Description
This was premiered on the Trinity Chamber Concerts series around 1986.

Movement two "The Well" is part of my early studies into I Ching scales. The Well ( I Ching #48) remains one of my favorite Hexagrams.

Movement five: G. A. C. T. B. is a result of my studying alchemy. The book the "Science of Alchemy" from 1927 outlines the universe in terms of the dimensions. We belong in the fourth dimension of time or "Becoming" above that is Time, Cosmos, Aeon and God. For this I wrote a slow deeply thoughtful work using G, A, C, ? and B.

The movements are:

I. Introduction

II. The Well (ic48)

III. Mandala No. 2

IV. The Transformation

V. God-Aeon-Cosmos-Time-Becoming

VI. Anthem of Ascension

This work begins with all twelve musicians on stage. Movement two and three are just the on stage octet, while the third chair players are moving to a place behind the audience. Movement four includes all twelve musicians signifying a transition to a higher reality, then the "stage octet" musicians present a view of the universe in movement 5 "God-Aeon-Cosmos-Time-Becoming" and the whole group plays the final choral, the "Anthem of Ascension"
